Analis Teknikal meyakini bahwa semua faktor yang relevan di pasar sudah dihitung dan tercermin dalam harga instrumen. Karena itu, satu-satunya hal yang perlu dianalisis adalah pergerakan harga.
Harga selalu diperkirakan akan membentuk dan mengikuti tren, bahkan secara acak. Harga lebih mungkin melanjutkan tren terdahulu dibandingkan bergerak tanpa arah yang jelas.
